Tom's beautiful wooden bird carrying crates.

Tom's bird boxes. Aren't they gorgeous?

Tom Ricardi holds turkey vulture as it stretches its wings.

Turkey vultures have the most amazing silver-grey undersides to their wing and tail feathers. Elves could make clothing out of them.

Turkey vulture sitting on crate can't be coaxed into flying across the room.

"I know you don't really have a snack over there, so I'm not going to bother flying over to look for one."

Saw-whet owl with glowing red eyes from camera flash.

Saw-whet owl with Customized Glowing Demon TM  eyes.

Saw-whet owl perched on Tom's hand.

Saw-whet owl with Standard Issue eyes.

Tom displays saw-whet owl and saw-whet owl nest box.

Saw-whet owls are cavity nesters. You can build a nest box to attract them. (The opening is the diameter of a coke can.)

Barred owl.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to get a picture of this barred owl nearly obscured by the gentle hands of half-a-dozen carefully-supervised children when Tom brought it out again after the presentation so people could get a closer look at it. Tom really shines when showing off his birds to youngsters.

Eagle vocalizing.

This female American Bald Eagle was very vocal when she first came out of her box.

Eagle rampant.

She also stretched her wings enthusiastically, causing quite a stir.

Eagle with wings outstretched.
Eagle with wings three-quarters extended.
Eagle head shot.

Then she settled down to looking regal.

Tom holds eagle on one arm.

"How much does she weigh?"
"About 14 pounds."

Tom supports eagle-holding arm with his other arm.

But after several minutes:
"Now she feels more like 50."

Tom shows off juvenile male redtail hawk.

Tom nearly forgot to show us this juvenile male redtail hawk who was too young to actually have a red tail yet.

Readtail hawk head shot.
